Fewer clothes, worn more often.
Wear And Repeat started because I was tired of buying things I wore twice. This is a record of what happens when you go the other way.
Most fashion advice assumes the answer is another purchase. Buy the trench. Buy the trend. Buy the version of the thing you already own, but in a different colour. I did that for years and ended up with a full wardrobe and nothing to wear.
So I flipped the question. Instead of asking what to buy next, I started asking how many times I could wear what I already had, and how to make those wears look and feel good. That turned out to be a much more interesting problem.
The best outfit in your wardrobe is usually one you have already worn. The trick is knowing why it worked.
What you'll find here
Five things, mostly:
- Capsule wardrobes that start from the clothes you reach for, not from a list someone else wrote.
- Outfit formulas, which are really just rules about proportion and shape that keep working when you swap the pieces.
- Style guides on fit, colour, and dressing for the life you actually have.
- Clothing care, because the fastest way to a better wardrobe is to stop wrecking the one you own.
- Reviews of brands, fabrics, and specific pieces, written after wearing them properly rather than after unboxing them.
How I test things
Nothing gets recommended here until I’ve worn it for at least a season. That means through washes, through weather, and through the boring weekday version of getting dressed. If something pilled, shrank, or lost its shape, that goes in the review too.
I buy most of what I write about. When a brand sends something, I say so at the top of the post, and it doesn’t change what I write.
Say hello
Questions, requests for a specific guide, or a piece you want tested: get in touch. I read everything, and reader questions turn into posts more often than not.
